Joana Amaral Paulo also discussed the importance that agroforestry has in the sustainable development of rural areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This event was hosted by Confedera\u00e7\u00e3o dos Agricultores de Portugal (CAP), the Municipality of Gr\u00e2ndola, the Association of Farmers of Gr\u00e2ndola and PEFC Portugal (Programa para o Reconhecimento da Certifica\u00e7\u00e3o Florestal). It was aimed at increasing public understanding about the relevance of Mediterranean forest production systems and the challenges that their management poses. Concei\u00e7\u00e3o Santos Silva (UNAC) and Lu\u00eds Neves Silva (WWF) were also speakers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, attended the event, talking about the lack of attention that rural areas usually get.
